Albani Refuge: A Winter Balcony Overlooking the Presolana
Guiddy Difficulty Levels
Intermediate Plus
Description
The Albani Refuge is located 1939 meters at the foot of the north face of the queen of the Orobie Alps, Presolana. The refuge is the last stop on the Sentiero delle Orobie trail and offers excellent traditional Bergamasco cuisine. The starting point is from the cable car square in Carbonera. In this section, we follow a paved road that immediately tests us with its steepness. After a few hairpin bends, we leave the road to immerse ourselves in the woods, after crossing the Rino stream thanks to a wooden bridge. We continue the climb, always steep and sometimes a little narrow, until we reach the edge of the forest. We are then amazed by the panorama that opens up and we see the imposing profile of Presolana. After a short time, we begin to glimpse the silhouette of the Albani Refuge high to the right. Climbing for a few more minutes, we finally reach the Albani Refuge.
