Alpe Granda Hike: Sunset with a View

There are hikes remembered for the summit and others that stay in your heart for the light. Sunset at Alpe Granda, in the heart of Val Masino, is one of those experiences every Guidder should enjoy at least once.

We’ll set off in the late afternoon from Cataeggio, following an ancient trail that winds through chestnut groves, beech woods, and historic alpine pastures. The climb is steady but pleasant, accompanied by the scents of the forest and ever-widening views over the valley. As the minutes pass, the light changes, the colors grow warmer, and the panorama opens onto the evening’s true star: the majestic Monte Disgrazia (3,678 m).

Once we reach Alpe Granda, we’ll enjoy one of the most beautiful natural balconies in Val Masino. As the sun begins to dip behind the mountains, Monte Disgrazia will glow with golden and pink hues, creating a spectacle that makes this hike truly special. It will be the perfect moment for a packed dinner, a few photographs, and the pleasure of sharing the sunset with the Guiddy community.

We’ll make our way back in the twilight, experiencing the mountains in a completely different atmosphere: silent and magical.
