Hike among quarries, colorful caves and breathtaking views!
A unique itinerary that combines nature, archeology and spectacular landscapes in the heart of one of the most beautiful villages in Italy.
Starting from the Borgio Verezzi Train Station (SV), the excursion winds along an easy and accessible ring, ideal for all lovers of outdoor walks. The route leads to the Caves of Borgio Verezzi, the most colorful in Italy, passing through the picturesque village of Piazza di Verezzi, a natural balcony overlooking the sea.
We will walk along the historic Via dei Carri Matti, an ancient road once traveled by carts full of stone, until we reach the abandoned quarries where the famous Pietra di Verezzi was extracted, rich in fossils and with warm pink hues. Continuing, we will encounter the charming church of San Martino and the iconic Phoenician mill, a symbol of the village. From here, the path opens onto breathtaking views that range from the blue of the sea to the green Mediterranean scrub.
Along the way we will also discover prehistoric dolmens, a Bronze Age castellaro and karst caves frequented since the Paleolithic, authentic treasure chests of history, which continue to amaze archaeologists and visitors from all over the world. We will conclude the walk with a guided tour (not mandatory and not included) of the Caves of Borgio Verezzi!
