Autumn in the Langhe: the loop between La Morra and Barolo among red vines, chapels and cellars

After the harvest the Langhe vines turn from green to red and yellow, and the UNESCO-listed hills become a palette. This loop links the two symbol villages of Barolo, La Morra and Barolo, along white roads between the rows, with the painted Barolo Chapel in the middle. It ends, as it should, in a cellar.

The route

From the La Morra viewpoint we descend through the Cerequio and Brunate vineyards to the Barolo Chapel, painted by Sol LeWitt and David Tremlett. We continue between the rows to Barolo, with its castle and wine museum.

Lunch in Barolo, packed or at a trattoria, and back to La Morra via the Annunziata side, with time for a tasting.

Tastings and lunch not included. In October and November Alba hosts the Truffle Fair: busy roads and car parks, early meeting.

Getting there

La Morra is an hour and fifty-five from Milan: A7 and A21 to Asti Est, then Alba and the Langhe road. Free and paid parking at the viewpoint. On Alba Truffle Fair weekends the roads are busy: early meeting and car pooling in the Telegram group.
