Description

Two peaks, one loop, a view of the Matterhorn.

We set off with the Guidders from Champlong, between Verrayes and its pastures, and climb gently through the woods, which soon give way to open meadows. The route is a loop that climbs steadily towards the Col Les Bornes, touches the Col d'Aver, and from there tackles the ridge leading first to the Becca d'Aver, broad and panoramic, and then to Cima Longhède, sharper and narrower at its summit. The connecting ridge is wide and never dangerous: you walk balanced between two worlds, with the central Valle below and the Matterhorn right before your eyes.

Just below the Becca d'Aver we find an old alpine hut, next to a small votive chapel dedicated to the Madonna delle Nevi: a corner of silence before the final ridge. On the Longhède, instead, awaits the large cross erected by the Gruppo delle Penne Nere of Verrayes.

5 reasons to come
- two peaks, one single loop, double satisfaction
- open views of the Matterhorn, Monte Rosa and Valtournenche
- wide panoramic ridge, never exposed
- a votive chapel hidden among the pastures
- true silence, only untouched nature

Who it's suitable for
For those with good legs and a minimum level of fitness: no technical sections, just a steady climb and a few steeper stretches to tackle with steady breathing.

Get your backpack and boots ready: we climb together with the Guidders, between Verrayes' two most panoramic twin peaks.

I'm a UIMLA Mountain Hiking Leader, specialized in snow-covered terrain, registered with the Aosta Valley Alpine Guides Association. I was born and raised here, and I've been exploring the mountains in all their forms since I was a child. I enjoy guiding all kinds of itineraries: from peaceful hikes focused on nature, wildlife and scenery, to more challenging routes. If you'd like, I can help you gradually step out of your comfort zone and reach goals you might not tackle on your own: a multi-day trek, a summit above 3000 metres, a snowshoe hike. I love quiet, uncrowded places. During hikes, I enjoy sharing the history, culture and unique features of the land I grew up in. Join me to enjoy the mountains at your own pace, one step at a time 🏔️ See you in the mountains!
