Description
A spectacular trek in the heart of Valchiavenna, in the presence of the majestic Pizzo Stella, the highest mountain in the valley.
Starting from the village of Fraciscio, above Campodolcino, we will immediately immerse ourselves in the alpine environment of Val Rabbiosa, a wild and little-visited valley that offers increasingly wider views as we gain altitude.
The path climbs through woods and alpine pastures until it reaches the Rifugio Chiavenna, a historic transit point for those exploring these mountains.
Continuing beyond the refuge, you enter the splendid Piana dell'Angeloga, one of the most evocative alpine plateaus in Valchiavenna, dominated by the great walls of Pizzo Stella.
From here the route becomes more alpine: a small channel will lead us towards the magnificent Laghi Nero and Ballone, two high-altitude jewels set among rocks and glacial moraines.
The panorama is magnificent: in front of us stands the Pizzo Stella, while all around open the ridges and valleys of upper Valchiavenna.
