Bottani Bivouac Loop Trail
Guiddy Difficulty Levels
Difficult
Description
There are treks that win you over with a summit, and others that leave a lasting impression because of the variety of landscapes they cross. The Bivacco Bottani loop, in the Costiera dei Cech, belongs to this second category: an authentic route that brings together woods, alpine pastures, stone huts, and spectacular views over Valtellina.
With the Guidders, we will set off from Poira di Civo, a small natural terrace overlooking the lower Valtellina, following trail 23 as it climbs through the wild Val Visogno. We will pass through ancient rural hamlets such as Pra Succ and Alpe Visogno, where time seems to have stood still, until we reach the panoramic Bivacco Bottani, nestled at the foot of the imposing Cime del Malvedello.
From here, the view opens up over the mountains of Valtellina and the Costiera dei Cech, offering a break that rewards every meter of ascent. The return makes this trek even more special: a little-traveled loop route crosses Val Toate, passes Baita Colino, the huts of Pesc, and the charming rural village of Ledino, with its splendid perfectly preserved stone houses.
