Description

The Bivacco Bottani-Cornaggia is one of those places that knows how to reward every meter of ascent. Perched at 2,327 meters, in the glacial cirque above Alpe Visogno, at the foot of the Cima di Malvedello, it represents a true panoramic balcony overlooking Valtellina and the great surrounding mountains.

The route develops in a continuous ascent through the woods, with steep slopes but no technical difficulties, until reaching Alpe Visogno (2,003 m). Here the panorama opens up suddenly and leaves you speechless: the view embraces the Legnone, Val Gerola, Val Tartano, the long ridge of the Orobie and, on the clearest days, reaches as far as the Adamello massif. A wide and profound spectacle, one that truly gives peace to the soul.

From the upper plateau, you reach the bivouac, a historic support point for infrequently traveled and fascinating crossings towards the Valle dei Ratti and Val Masino, through alpine passes full of history. A physically demanding hike, with about 1,300 meters of elevation gain, but always hiking-oriented, ideal for trained Guidders looking for real climbs, enormous panoramas, and authentic places, far from the beaten paths.

Guide

Francesca

Hi! I'm Francesca – a ski instructor, Level II STF trainer, ski school director, athletic trainer, and certified Mountain Leader registered with the Lombardy Alpine Guide Association. I was born by the sea, but I live amongst the mountains, where every summit tells a story of challenge and every trail unveils a new discovery. I carry the sea within me: that vibrant energy, that desire for freedom and movement that I rediscover every time I strap on my skis or guide someone to high altitudes. I live to share my passion, help others grow (both on the trail and in spirit), and pass on my love for the mountains… with determination, skill, and a smile that’s always ready.
