Cabianca Peak and the Valgoglio Lakes Circuit
Guiddy Difficulty Levels
Difficult
Description
Cabianca is a fabulous destination to reach: one of those Orobie peaks that stand on the watershed between Val Seriana and Val Brembana, guaranteeing a wide panorama towards both valleys, as well as an exceptional natural setting during the ascent. We will find ourselves in the beautiful Goglio valley, an incredibly water-rich area, as evidenced by the numerous lakes we will encounter. A classic tour in the area is the tour of the five main lakes, but this time we will aim much higher. Starting from Bortolotti (a hamlet of Valgoglio), we will climb a steep path that leads to the plateau above, first encountering Lake Sucotto. We will continue towards the Capanna Lago Nero, retracing the traditional route, to abandon it near Lake Aviasco. Here our ascent to the summit begins: everything around us changes, the verdant meadows are abandoned and replaced by a rocky scenario, between white and reddish limestone. The climb also remains challenging and more intriguing, some fun passages on rock in the final part will allow us to gain the last meters, and here we are at the top! What joy, what satisfaction, overcoming all fatigue, arriving at the top with only the sky above us, is always the greatest emotion! After enjoying the panorama, we will descend, evaluating whether to close the loop of the lakes, or retracing the way we came.
