In winter, the Lakes of Cardeto completely change their appearance and become an almost surreal place. The basin suspended above Gromo, one of the most beautiful villages in Italy, transforms into a white amphitheater where time seems to stand still. The path climbs through the forest muffled by snow, among larches and firs, alternating sheltered stretches with panoramic openings over the Seriana Valley. When you leave the forest, the landscape suddenly opens up: snowy meadows, soft lines and, shortly after, the lakes appear frozen and silent, one after the other.

Here, winter reveals its most authentic side: no noise, only the regular step on the snow and the gaze that runs to the Orobie peaks. The circular route touches all three lakes and the Cardeto huts, often framed by snow and frost, before returning along the descent path.
