Cascata del Cenghen: a loop from Abbadia Lariana
Guiddy Difficulty Levels
Easy
Description
Fifty metres of falling water in the heart of the Grigna
An easy, relaxing loop starting from Abbadia Lariana, on the Lecco arm of Lake Como, climbing to the Cascata del Cenghen: a small gem hidden on the flank of the Grigna, where the water drops more than fifty metres in a single fall.
The trail winds between woodland and rock, with the sound of the stream keeping us company over the last stretch before the waterfall comes into view. It is 8 kilometres and 400 metres of ascent: numbers within anyone's reach, for a route with a real surprise at the end.
It is the right hike for a hot day: at the foot of the falls the air stays cool even in August, and the spray does the rest. The way back closes the loop down towards the lake.
Why come
- a waterfall of more than fifty metres, minutes from Lecco
- guaranteed cool air even on hot days
- 400 metres of ascent: suitable for everyone
- a varied loop through woods, stream and lake views
Who it suits
This is an easy hike: 8 kilometres and 400 metres of ascent, with no technical sections. It works as a first outing and for those walking with teenagers. Bring hiking boots, as the ground near the falls can be damp, and water.
Come with the Guidders: book your place and let's walk to the Cenghen.
