Cima Carega and Rifugio Fraccaroli: trekking in the heart of the Piccole Dolomiti

At 2230 meters, perched like an eagle's nest. This is Rifugio Fraccaroli.

We set off with the Guidders from Passo di Campogrosso, right in the heart of the Piccole Dolomiti. It's a classic out-and-back route: we start through woods and pastures, then the climb steepens as the dolomitic spires open up around us. We cross the Bocchetta dei Fondi and Bocchetta Mosca, a crossroads of trails tucked among the rocks, before the final push to the refuge. From there, with an optional short detour, you can reach nearby Cima Carega for a 360° panorama stretching from Pasubio to Adamello.

The trail partly follows an old mule track: we walk where locals once worked, long before this became one of Veneto's favorite hikes.
