Description
A ridge of grass, stones and sky. And at the end, the summit.
We set off with the Guidders from Pasturo and gain altitude through woods and alpine pastures up to the Alpe Campione, where the real climb begins: the ridge of the Costa dei Fiori, rounded and grassy at first, growing steeper the higher we go. The route is there-and-back: we climb the whole ridge to a false summit, drop a few metres to a small saddle, and climb back up over easy rocky sections that lead us straight to the summit of Cima di Campione, at 2157 metres. Above 1950 metres the terrain changes: limestone rock emerges among the scree, and we understand why this route bears its name, among rock flowers and ridgelines that seem made to be walked.
There are no chains or fixed ropes here: just a path that the ridge itself traces beneath your feet, one of the few in the area offering this view over the Grigne without any equipped sections.
