Description

Two high-altitude lakes and a peak at 2446 meters. All in one day.

We set off with the Guidders from Val Sesis and quickly leave the woods behind us, climbing along the Portatrici trail, the historic CAI 138 that commemorates the work of women on the Carnic front during the Great War. The route is there-and-back and climbs gently through mountain pine and pastures up to the Olbe Lakes, two turquoise pools set beneath the rocks. From there the climb becomes steeper: the last few meters below the summit of Cima Lastroni require a bit of agility on small rocks, nothing technical, just hands and feet. At the top, the view opens up over all the Sappada Dolomites.

5 reasons to come
- the Olbe Lakes, a balcony of water at 2000 meters
- Cima Lastroni, one of the most beautiful peaks of Sappada
- the Portatrici trail and its wartime history
- the final rocky stretch, a touch of real adventure
- 360° views over the Friulian Dolomites

Who it's suitable for
For those with good legs and a desire to walk uphill for a few hours. No technical experience is needed except for the last stretch of trail to reach the summit, which is a bit narrow and exposed.

Come with the Guidders: we set off together, we celebrate at the top.

Guide

Alessandro

⛰ Hi there! I’m Alessandro. I’m 34 years old and live in the heart of the Dolomites, in the Cadore region. I am a certified International Mountain Leader (accredited by the Veneto Mountain Guide Association and UIMLA), a graduate in Sports Science, a mountain bike guide, and—believe it or not—a sommelier! After all, there’s nothing like a good glass of wine after a long hike. I love experiencing the mountains in every way possible: from trekking and trail running to mountain bike adventures. For me, moving through nature is pure energy, discovery, and emotion. Sharing this passion with others is my mission. Whether we are on a scenic trail or riding through the woods on two wheels, my goal is always the same: to provide authentic, active, and restorative experiences. See you on the trails… or maybe over a great glass of wine! 🍷🚵‍♂️🌲
