Corna Trentapassi from Vello: a thousand metres from the lake

Corna Trentapassi (1,248 m) rises sharp above Lake Iseo: a blade of rock that catches the light and delivers breathtaking views. This is the vertical route: we start from Vello di Marone, practically from the lakeshore, and climb 1,065 metres in just seven kilometres.

The trail starts firmly: level at first, then climbing steeply into the woods. The route is fairly straightforward up to about halfway, then we climb the rocks of the ridge, with very steep sections to be taken carefully, using your hands, until we emerge at the summit cross.

From the top the view spreads over Val Camonica, the folds of the mountain and — on clear days — as far as the Apennines. We descend towards the Zone junction and return through the woods to Vello, closing the loop.

Who it suits

This is a hard hike: 1,065 metres in seven kilometres, so a sustained gradient, with very steep rock sections where a sure step and no fear of heights are needed. Not suitable for beginners. Bring boots with an excellent sole, light gloves and plenty of water.
