Rifugio Curò: the emerald Barbellino from Valbondione
Guiddy Difficulty Levels
Intermediate Plus
Description
The emerald green of upper Val Seriana
One of the most captivating treks in upper Val Seriana, for those who love big alpine landscapes. We reach the famous Rifugio Curò, overlooking Lago del Barbellino: one of the most iconic lakes in the Bergamo Orobie, known for its striking emerald colour, which shifts with the light and the season.
The trail crosses thick fir woods, wide alpine grasslands and a splendid mountain basin where the view keeps changing step by step. Just beyond the hut stands the sword in the stone, next to the chapel dedicated to those lost in the mountains: the landmark everyone photographs.
Technically the route has no particular difficulties or exposed sections, but 1,000 metres of ascent over twelve kilometres call for good fitness and a full day ahead of you.

Federica
Hey Guiders! 🧡 I was born in Milan in '85, but my heart belongs to the mountains of the Bergamo Prealps, where Mount Presolana fueled my passion for the great outdoors. After a few years as a copywriter, I decided to change direction and follow what truly felt like home: the trails. In 2020, I qualified as a Mountain Leader and chose to live closer to nature. I love guiding people to discover the breathtaking views, peaceful silences, and wonders of the mountains, sharing every step of the way with the Guidders community. 🥾⛰️
