Rifugio Campione by e-bike: the Campelli in Val di Scalve
Guiddy Difficulty Levels
Intermediate
Description
Twenty-four kilometres of Val di Scalve, with the motor on your side
We set off from the centre of Schilpario and start pedalling through cool, quiet woodland. The road climbs gently, then more firmly, but the e-bike pushes for you: 24 kilometres and 800 metres of ascent that would be a hard day without a motor, and stay a pleasure with one.
Every bend opens a new landscape: high pastures, streams and the jagged profile of the surrounding mountains. After the stop at Rifugio Cimon della Bagozza the climb opens onto the widest views, with the little Madonna of the Campelli worth a pause and a photo. A few more turns of the pedals and we are at Passo dei Campelli, the whole valley below us.
Reaching Rifugio Campione, beside the lake, is the reward of the day: clear water, silence and crisp mountain air. We stop for lunch before riding back to Schilpario along the same route, all downhill.
Why come

- Passo dei Campelli and its sweep over the valley
- two huts along the way: Cimon della Bagozza and Campione
- Val di Scalve, one of the wildest valleys in the Orobie Alps
Who it suits
You need to be comfortable on a bike and reasonably fit: the e-bike helps, but five hours in the saddle are still five hours. There are no technical sections. E-bike rental is not included: if you do not have your own, write to us before booking.
Come with the Guidders: book your place and let's ride up to the Campelli.
