E-bike among Rovasenda's storks: autumn loop through the Baraggia, Vercelli
Guiddy Difficulty Levels
Easy Plus
Description
Storks, golden rice fields and a castle rising from the countryside: welcome to the Baraggia in autumn.
We set off with the Guidders from Greggio on our e-bikes, heading to Rovasenda: assisted pedaling on secondary roads and gravel tracks through rice fields turning gold in the autumn light. The route is a loop, mostly flat, perfect for enjoying the easy terrain while keeping an eye on the battery. We ride past biological fields toward Cascina Teglio, spotting nest after nest along the way. Optional detour to the Molinia organic farm, where rice is grown without any chemicals.
In Rovasenda, a medieval castle awaits us, its 48-metre tower standing tall over the Baraggia: a surprising sight in the middle of the rice paddies.
5 reasons to join:
- Watch real storks nesting among the rice fields
- Pedal effortlessly with electric assistance
- Discover Rovasenda castle and its tower
- Nearly flat route, perfect to unplug
- Autumn colours lighting up every turn
Who it's for: any gravel or touring e-bike will do, the terrain is easy and welcoming for everyone.
Hop on with the Guidders: this is how you experience the Baraggia in autumn.

Guide

Manuel
I am a hiking and cycle touring guide based in Piedmont. I know North-Eastern Piedmont especially well because it is where I live, explore every day, and have been guiding groups for the past thirty years on treks, hikes, and gravel rides through the region I love and have always called my own. My work combines safety, technical expertise, and genuine care for people: from setting the right pace for the group to choosing the best route, from monitoring weather conditions to managing equipment. Every outing is designed to offer you an authentic, relaxed, and engaging experience, where the landscape becomes a journey of discovery and every step or pedal stroke takes on its own meaning.
