Description
A scenic and historic itinerary that starts from Somana, a hamlet of Mandello del Lario, and follows the ancient paths once used by travelers to reach Valsassina from Lake Como.
We will walk through woods, mule tracks, and spectacular landscapes, crossing places that tell the story of the authentic mountain: silent, alive, and steeped in memory.
We will pass by the Sanctuary of Santa Maria, where we will be welcomed by volunteers for a short visit.
We will reach the mountain huts of Alpe di Era, where we will stop for a packed lunch and a convivial moment in a setting from another time, surrounded by the peaks of the Grigne group.
On the way back, we will descend along the other side of the Meria Valley, following paths that were once a refuge for partisans during the Second World War—places that still preserve stories and testimonies of freedom today.
