Exposure and Views: Climbing the Gamma 1 Via Ferrata on the Piani d'Erna
Via Ferrata ladder
D (Difficult)
Adrenaline rises with altitude
Description
A classic route above Lecco, with panoramic views of Lake Como and plenty of exposure. The ascent winds between vertical walls and long metal ladders, alternating with traverses and suspension bridges. It is a via ferrata of medium difficulty but very airy, ideal for those who want to test their adrenaline without facing overly technical passages.
From the start, you quickly ascend with vertical passages and a spectacular environment: Lecco and the lake below your feet, the Grigne mountains and the Lombardy plain all around. Halfway through, an escape route leads to the Stoppani Refuge, but those who continue face walkways, a Tibetan bridge, and the final tower that leads to the cross of Pizzo d'Erna (1375 m).
The descent can be made comfortably by cable car from Piani d'Erna, or on foot along the path that descends towards the car park.
👉 An ideal route for those looking for a panoramic, varied and spectacular via ferrata, just a stone's throw from Lecco.
