Forcella Rossa and Lago d'Arale: a loop from Cambrembo

Two alpine passes and a high lake in the Orobie

A trek in the heart of the Bergamo Orobie, between alpine passes, high-altitude lakes and views that open all at once. We start from Cambrembo, above Valleve, following old mountain paths towards Passo San Simone, through pastures, alpine basins and panoramic stretches.

We reach Forcella Rossa, a natural balcony on the Sentiero delle Orobie with an open view over the whole range, and continue to Lago d'Arale: a pool set among the peaks, perfect for a break in the silence.

It is 10 kilometres and 540 metres of ascent, but the route has steep sections and uneven ground typical of alpine trails: the distance is modest, the attention required is not. We eat our packed lunch on the shores of the lake.

Who it suits

The height gain is modest, but the steep sections and uneven ground call for good fitness and a sure step: this is not the usual stroll. Bring boots with a good sole, poles and a packed lunch, as there are no huts along the route.
