Two summits above the Presolana, in a single day
A hike in the heart of Val di Scalve, starting from Colere. The first part of the route winds through thick woodland, where cool air and quiet keep us company while we learn to recognise the main tree species of the area.
Out of the woods the landscape opens and the eye ranges over the famous peaks ringing the valley. We pass Rifugio Albani, below the north faces of the Presolana, and from there climb towards the day's two summits: Monte Ferrantino and Monte Ferrante, one close to the other.
As we gain height the view widens further, until the summit of the Adamello appears on the horizon. It is 11 kilometres and 1,230 metres of ascent over eight hours: a serious day, repaid by lunch at the top with the Presolana in front of us.

Who it suits
This is a hard hike: 1,230 metres of ascent in eight hours, with open, stony ground higher up where a sure step is needed. Good fitness required. Bring sturdy boots, poles, plenty of water and a windproof jacket.
