Start from Bagni di Masino and let yourself be enveloped by the scent of the fir forest, as the path climbs through hairpin bends and ancient mule tracks. Cross the magical bottleneck of the Thermopylae, a passage carved between enormous boulders, and reach the wide Pianone del Porcellizzo: a natural balcony where Pizzo Badile and Pizzo Cengalo reveal themselves in all their majesty.
The last stretch climbs steeply between rocks and alpine pastures, until, at 2,534 m, the Rifugio Luigi Gianetti appears: a stone nest suspended between sky and mountains, a meeting point for mountaineers and hikers from all over the world. Here the panorama sweeps over the peaks of Val Masino and the silence is broken only by the wind and the call of the marmots.
