Gleno Dam Trek: Where the Mountains Tell a Story
Guiddy Difficulty Levels
Intermediate
Description
An excursion that combines history, nature, and beauty: trekking to the Gleno Dam is a journey into the wild heart of the Val di Scalve, where the woods of the Orobie mountains preserve the signs of the past and breathtaking panoramas.
From the village of Pianezza di Vilminore di Scalve (1267 m), the path winds through meadows and huts, up to a quiet, flat road. The ascent, gentle and constant, follows the path of the wildlife observatory, among firs and larches that smell of true mountain air.
The arrival at the ruins of the Gleno Dam is a moment that leaves you speechless: the imposing concrete arches tell a dramatic and moving story, framed by a small lake that reflects Monte Gleno (2882 m) and the surrounding peaks.
The return journey takes place on a stretch carved into the rock, suspended above the valley — a spectacular passage that offers unforgettable views and a touch of adventure.
A trek to be experienced with the heart, in the company of the Guidders, to discover the history and authentic soul of the Val di Scalve. 💚
