A panoramic, sociable hike, simple but always rewarding, for those who love big views over Lake Como without giving up the pleasure of sitting down to eat together.

The trail climbs gradually through woods and clearings, alternating resin-scented silence with sudden openings that widen over the lake and the Lombard pre-Alps. We start between Plesio and Breglia, where the first steps run in the shade and the lake is glimpsed through the trees.

Reaching Rifugio Menaggio, a natural balcony above the upper lake at the foot of Monte Grona, we stop for lunch at the hut: mountain dishes and one of the finest views on the lake. Six kilometres and 500 metres of ascent: a half day that feels like a full one.
