Hike in Val di Scalve: Trail to the Gleno Dam and Wildlife Observatory
Guiddy Difficulty Levels
Intermediate
Description
A circular trek in Val di Scalve that takes us to the heart of one of the most iconic places in the Orobie Alps. Together with the Guidders, we will walk through woods, open views and ancient villages to the remains of the Gleno Dam: a powerful place, where the beauty of the lake meets a story that leaves its mark.
We will start along a path immersed in the woods of Val di Scalve, alternating gentle stretches with steeper but always pleasant climbs. The path progressively opens onto wide panoramas until reaching the area of the Gleno Dam, where the imposing remains tell a story that is still alive.
The lake that forms at the foot of the dam creates a surprising contrast: calm waters and wild scenery that make this place unique. We will continue passing by the wildlife observatory, perfect for stopping and observing the valley from above, and reach the characteristic village of Pianezza, with its stone houses and the authentic mountain atmosphere.
A complete excursion that combines nature, history and sharing.

Federica
Hey Guiders! 🧡 I was born in Milan in '85, but my heart belongs to the mountains of the Bergamo Prealps, where Mount Presolana fueled my passion for the great outdoors. After a few years as a copywriter, I decided to change direction and follow what truly felt like home: the trails. In 2020, I qualified as a Mountain Leader and chose to live closer to nature. I love guiding people to discover the breathtaking views, peaceful silences, and wonders of the mountains, sharing every step of the way with the Guidders community. 🥾⛰️
