Description
An intense and incredibly rewarding trek in the heart of the Bergamo Orobie, accompanied by the Guidders, towards the picturesque Lake Pietra Quadra.
We’ll set off from Roncobello, making our way up through woods, pastures and mountain trails until we reach this lake nestled amongst the peaks. The circular return route via Foppa dei Vitelli offers sweeping views and that wonderful feeling of having earned every step. The hike starts from Roncobello, in the upper Brembana Valley, following well-marked trails that pass through cool woods and ancient mountain huts. As you gain altitude, the view opens up over the Bergamo mountains until you reach Lake Pietra Quadra, a small alpine gem surrounded by rocky terrain and pastures.
The route involves a significant elevation gain and requires a good level of fitness. Some sections are steep and on stony ground, especially in the upper part and during the descent from Foppa dei Vitelli. An ideal trek for those seeking authentic nature, a satisfying challenge and genuine views.
