Description

We are in the heart of the Catinaccio group of the Fassane Dolomites, more precisely in the Catinaccio d'Antermoia. Legend tells the sad story of Oswald von Wolkenstein, a young man in love with music, whose hands were burdened by a spell that prevented him from playing and could only be broken by great sorrow. Every time he touched an instrument, it would break in his hands before he could play it. One day he met a saliga, one of the strange and mysterious maidens who lived in the woods of the area, and fell in love with her. The girl reciprocated and revealed the spell that hung over him. However, she made him promise that he would never try to know or pronounce her name. One evening, returning from the mountain, the young man saw some Cristannes sitting around a bonfire talking. He knew they were wild creatures who lived in the forest and knew every secret, and driven by curiosity, he stopped to listen to them hidden behind a tree. That's how he discovered that his beloved maiden's name was Antermoia. When he saw her, her name escaped him and immediately a stream of water flowed out of the girl, enveloping her and transforming her into a lake. Because of the great sorrow, the spell was broken and Oswald could finally play. Inconsolable, he began to travel the world playing the saddest melodies. It is a fairly strenuous hike, but once you arrive at the gem of the Lake, the view will repay you for everything. The itinerary will initially take place on a mule track that will lead to the beautiful Val Duron, where various refuges and many marmots will keep us company during the walk.
