Lake Malgina: Beyond Curò, into the Wild Heart of the Orobie Alps

A long journey, a true adventure to savor step by step. This excursion is a total immersion in the mountains: in the scents of the forest, in the increasingly open landscapes of the Val Seriana, and in the silent power of Lake Malgina, nestled between the most majestic peaks of the Orobie Alps.

We are in Valbondione, the last inhabited bastion of the valley. From here we will begin our walk along one of the most classic and fascinating itineraries of the Orobie Alps: the ascent to the Rifugio Curò, overlooking the artificial basin of Lake Barbellino. But for us, this will only be the first stage.

We will continue on, venturing beyond the artificial lake, crossing increasingly wild and solitary environments. Before reaching the Natural Lake Barbellino, we will deviate along a less traveled path that will lead us, with a final challenging but spectacular climb, towards Lake Malgina.

Overlooked by the imposing Pizzo del Diavolo della Malgina, this lake of glacial origin will welcome us with its rugged, remote beauty, an authentic corner of the mountains where time seems to stand still.
