Description
Two lakes, one single trail to get you there.
We set off with the Guidders from Grain (AO), Charbonniere hamlet, and right from the start the forest welcomes us with the colors of autumn: maples and larches turning yellow and gold, while the old cart track climbs at a steady gradient through the trees. We pass by the remains of an old sawmill and the Chancharlec alpine pastures, then the forest opens up and the landscape changes: pastures, dry-stone walls, the air grows lighter. The route is there-and-back: we climb up to the lakes and retrace our steps, with the golden afternoon light accompanying the descent. Here we'll be able to admire the striking locations from the film "The Eight Mountains". We first reach the lower lake, then the upper lake, our destination at 2263 meters, set in a solitary basin where alpine wildlife shows itself fearlessly.
Those who want to extend the stop can push on with an optional detour to the Frudière Pass, just a few minutes from the lake.

Who it's suited for
A long hike but with no technical difficulties: it takes trained legs and a desire to spend a few hours at altitude, but good hiking boots are all you need.
