Levanto-Vernazza: Punta Mesco, the Sanctuaries and the True Origin of the Cinque Terre

Description
From one village to another, along the ridge line: this is the Cinque Terre you weren't expecting.
We set off with the Guidders from Levanto train station and, after crossing the historic village, we immediately climb through olive groves and Mediterranean scrub towards Punta Mesco, where the view gives us our first taste of the panoramas we'll enjoy throughout the day: from Palmaria to the western Ligurian coast, the coastline opens up and unrolls beneath us like a life-size map. We continue towards the Sanctuary of Madonna di Soviore (the oldest in Liguria according to written records), with ups and downs among broom, tree heather and strawberry trees, suspended between the historic inland villages and the coast.
The final stretch, passing by the Sanctuary of Madonna di Reggio surrounded by centuries-old holm oaks, brings us high above the village of Vernazza. No technical sections, just plenty of ups and downs with the sea always in front of us.

Who it's suitable for
A minimum level of fitness is needed to handle the elevation gain and the steps, but no technical skills or mountaineering experience are required: just good legs and the right shoes.
