Description

The red bivouac on the spur, at 2,590 metres

Bivacco Macherio is visible from the very start: a bright red dot perched on a rocky spur at 2,590 metres, in the Tredenus basin. It is one of the finest balconies in Val Camonica, with Pizzo Badile Camuno, the Concarena and the Corni di Tredenus closing the horizon.

We start near Rifugio De Marie al Volano, above the village of Cimbergo. From there the trail branches off and climbs the side of the basin in steady switchbacks up to the bivouac, set in a classic Adamello granite scree field, just below the passes crossing the Tredenus.

It is 19 kilometres and 1,400 metres of ascent: a long, demanding day that grants a well-earned stop at Rifugio De Marie on the way back.

Why come

  • Bivacco Macherio, red on granite at 2,590 metres
  • Pizzo Badile Camuno and the Concarena seen head-on
  • the Tredenus basin, one of the wildest corners of the Adamello
  • the stop at Rifugio De Marie on the way back

Who it suits

This is a hard hike for its length and ascent: 19 kilometres and 1,400 metres of climbing in eight hours, on trail and scree. Trained legs and a sure step on stony ground are needed. Bring sturdy boots, poles and plenty of water.

Come with the Guidders: book your place and let's climb to the Macherio.

RoadTo4000

Road to 4000 is Guiddy's program designed for those who want to enter the world of mountaineering with awareness, progress, and camaraderie. It's a structured program of carefully selected itineraries from our team, designed as technical and physical training in preparation for climbing to the Margherita Hut. Our goal is to build skills, confidence, and team spirit. This isn't just about altitude acclimatization; it's a genuine journey of growth. From the first summits to the most challenging climbs, we'll tackle diverse mountain environments, learning to read, interpret, and respect them. Each outing is designed to develop endurance, elevation gain management, altitude adaptation, and confidence in the alpine environment. Road to 4000 is also about sharing and synergy: a group of Guidders united by the same dream, getting to know each other step by step, exchanging technical information, experiences, and authentic moments lived together in the mountains. You won't be climbing with strangers, but with a team that grows, supports each other, and arrives ready for the challenge of the 4000-meter peaks. It's a journey made of preparation, friendship, and concrete goals. The summit is the objective. The journey, the people, and the emotions… that's the real adventure. 🧡
