Rifugio Mirtillo: from Lizzola between Coca and Redorta
Guiddy Difficulty Levels
Intermediate
Description
Face to face with the giants of the Orobie
A trek in the heart of Lizzola, where the trail opens onto authentic views of upper Val Seriana. We walk between pastures and ridges with views of Pizzo Coca and Pizzo Redorta — the two highest peaks in the Bergamo Orobie — up to Rifugio Mirtillo.
We start from Lizzola on a well-marked mountain trail, climbing steadily towards Passo della Manina: an alpine setting of pastures, scree and panoramic ridges, where the air changes flavour every hundred metres.
It is 9 kilometres and 700 metres of ascent, reaching 2,068 metres. The hut is both goal and reward: we eat looking at the Orobie giants, and walk down unhurried.
Why come
- Pizzo Coca and Pizzo Redorta, the two giants of the Orobie
- Rifugio Mirtillo at 2,068 metres, rarely crowded
- pastures, scree and panoramic ridges in a single route
- free parking at the Lizzola chairlift
