Monte Alto and Rifugio Magnolini: a scenic summer trek above Lake Iseo

Hike to Monte Alto from Ceratello: one of the most scenic treks in Lombardy

If you love wide-open views, sweeping grassy ridgelines, and trails that offer लगातार views of the lake, the hike to Monte Alto on Lake Iseo is an experience that deserves a place on your summer hiking list.

Together with the Guidders, we will set off from Ceratello, a charming mountain village above Lovere, to reach one of the most panoramic peaks in Alto Sebino. We will pass through cool woodlands, high-altitude pastures, and stunning scenic ridges that will accompany us all the way to the summit of Monte Alto (1,727 m).

From up there, the view is simply extraordinary:  Lake Iseo, Montisola, the Camonica Valley, the Bergamo Orobie Alps, and the Po Valley unfold in a single breathtaking glance.

And what better way to end the day? A well-deserved stop at Rifugio Magnolini, with good food, conversation, and the unmistakable atmosphere that makes days spent with the Guidders community so special.

Because some days begin with a backpack on your shoulders and end with new friends and memories that stay with you over time.

Monte Alto is considered one of the finest natural balconies overlooking Lake Iseo. Throughout the hike, you walk with the lake in the background, alternating between shaded woods and panoramic grassy ridgelines.
