Description

A summit chosen by military geographers as one of Italy's most beautiful views. There's a reason for that.

We set off with the Guidders from Passo del Pelizzone, where monks once welcomed travelers centuries ago, and follow the loop climbing through woods and pastures up to Monte Carameto. The trail traces ancient ridge mule tracks, past wild orchid blooms, with the view opening wider at every turn. Along the way we pass the Cappella di San Giovanni, with its little spring nearby: a perfect spot for a break. From the top the view is total: Val Ceno, Val d'Arda and all the way down to the Po plain.

It's not just local legend: the Italian Military Geographic Institute chose this exact peak for its land surveys, ranking it among Italy's 300 most scenic viewpoints.
