Monte delle Rezze and Madonon: A High-Altitude Balcony Between Ortles and Bernina
Guiddy Difficulty Levels
Difficult
Description
If you are looking for a panoramic trek above Livigno, Mount Rezze (2,858 m) is one of the most spectacular excursions in the Upper Valtellina. A high-altitude itinerary that combines authentic alpine environments, absolute silence and a dominant view of the Rhaetian Alps.
It starts from Livigno, in the heart of the province of Sondrio, gradually ascending through bright pastures and wide paths. After the first few kilometers, the environment changes: the terrain becomes more mineral, the vegetation thins out and the atmosphere becomes pure, essential. Here the only sound is the wind, sometimes interrupted by the whistle of marmots.
The last stretch leads to the summit of Monte delle Rezze, where the famous statue of the Madonon and the panoramic bivouac welcome us. From here, the view embraces the Ortles-Cevedale group, the Bernina massif and the wild peaks of Val Livigno, in one of the widest and brightest horizons in Lombardy.
It is an ideal excursion for those who want to experience a high-altitude trek in Livigno, without technical mountaineering passages but with the authentic feeling of high mountains. Just the right amount of effort, immense panoramas, shared energy.
A path that is not just an ascent, but a vertical journey towards silence.
