Monte Faiè: panoramic loop trek above Lake Mergozzo
Guiddy Difficulty Levels
Intermediate Plus
Description
1352 meters, three lakes below your feet. Not bad for a Sunday.
We set off with the Guidders from Bracchio and climb into the woods, through beech forest that gets thicker as we go. The route is a loop: we climb steadily to the ridge, reach the summit of Monte Faiè, then descend on a different side, passing by Alpe Ompio. Along the Pianezza ridge the view suddenly opens up: Lake Orta, Lake Maggiore, Mottarone, Montorfano and Lake Mergozzo, all in one sweeping glance.
On the way back we pass near Rifugio Fantoli, a historic CAI Verbania shelter: an optional stop for a break before heading back down to Bracchio.
5 reasons to join
- the most panoramic summit above Lake Maggiore
- three lakes visible from one spot
- a real loop, different climb and descent
- optional stop at Rifugio Fantoli
- beech woods that change with every season

Alessandro
Hi Guidders! 🧡 I'm Alessandro, your Environmental Hiking Guide and a passionate mountain lover and avid hiker. The peaks are often my destination... but never in a rush. I believe that with the right pace and enough time, we can reach any goal, truly savoring the journey. For me, mountain passes, trails, and valleys are much more than just places to pass through; they're opportunities to pause, take in the surroundings, and be amazed by the beauty all around us. On our hikes, I love sharing this passion, because the mountains are even more beautiful when the experience is shared with the Guidders community. See you on the trail! 🥾⛰️🌿
