Monte Barro: a loop in the park above Lecco
Guiddy Difficulty Levels
Easy
Description
The first mountain you meet heading north
Monte Barro is a silent sentinel above the plain: the first hill you meet heading north. Its gentle slopes open onto the main lakes of the area and onto the unmistakable profile of the Resegone.
On an easy loop we explore every side of the mountain, among landscapes taking in Lecco and its lakes. We are inside a regional nature park that holds archaeological traces, ancient remains and a biodiversity surprising for a mountain so close to the city: hundreds of plant species are recorded here, some of them rare.
It is 6 kilometres and 500 metres of ascent in three hours: the right outing for half a day, for those starting to walk, or for anyone wanting a real summit without committing the whole day.
Why come
- the view over Lecco, the lake and the Brianza lakes
- the Resegone opposite, along its whole length
- the regional park with its archaeological traces
- three hours in total: perfect for half a day
