Description
Mount Barro, also known as Mount Galbiate, is a seemingly modest yet surprising peak, a true 360° natural balcony suspended between lakes and plains. Isolated from the surrounding hills and overlooking the High Po Valley, it offers continuous panoramic views ranging from Lake Como to the lakes of Annone and Garlate, up to the Grigne and the Lecco Prealps.
The proposed itinerary is a loop and allows you to experience Mount Barro in its entirety. Starting from Galbiate, we will ascend along the south ridge, crossing the striking Tre Corni (Three Horns), with increasingly wider views of the lakes below. Reaching the summit, the view opens spectacularly onto a vast horizon, which makes this excursion unique despite the low altitude.
The descent along the north ridge towards Pian Sciresa offers a more intimate and natural environment, before returning to Galbiate via the middle path, which is comfortable and panoramic. A perfect trek for Guidders looking for nature, panoramas, and variety of environments, ideal for a full day without going too far.
