Monte Berlinghera: the panoramic swing above the upper lake
Guiddy Difficulty Levels
Intermediate
Description
A summit, a giant swing and a famous hut
A hike combining spectacular views, wild nature and a touch of fun. The climb to Monte Berlinghera leads to one of the finest natural balconies of the upper Lake Como area, with Lake Como, Lake Mezzola and Valchiavenna all opening below us at once.
The trail, of moderate difficulty, winds through woods, historic mule tracks and open ridges, with just over 700 metres of ascent. At the top there is a giant panoramic swing: you sit, you push, and for a few seconds the lake is under your feet. It is the moment everyone photographs.
On the way back we descend a different trail and stop at the Baita del Vichingo, the most famous hut in the area, for a coffee or a beer before returning to the cars.
Why come
- the panoramic swing at the summit, with the lake under your feet
- Lake Como, Lake Mezzola and Valchiavenna in a single view
- the Baita del Vichingo on the way back, for a coffee or a beer
- different trails up and down
Who it suits
