Monte Bisbino at sunset: a thousand metres from Cernobbio
Guiddy Difficulty Levels
Intermediate
Description
An evening workout with a view over Lake Como
A timeless classic for those who like training with a view. From the old centre of Cernobbio, practically from the lakeshore, we set off for Monte Bisbino, rising to 1,314 metres on the border between Italy and Switzerland: 1,100 metres of ascent in one go.
The route follows old mule tracks and silent woods, with views over Lake Como widening at every bend and a series of historical and artistic landmarks along the climb — chapels, boundary stones and old positions telling the story of this border.
This is a training hike: we climb in the evening at a brisk pace, reach the summit for sunset and return on a loop with head torches. Ideal for anyone preparing for tougher outings who wants height gain after work.
Why come
- 1,100 metres of ascent starting from the lake
