Description
This excursion takes us to discover a little-known and surprisingly wild corner of the Grigne mountains, away from the most crowded routes but incredibly panoramic. We will start from Lierna, overlooking Lake Como, and ascend towards Monte Palagia (1,549 m) following a varied, satisfying, and never dull itinerary.
The ascent is direct and decisive: a very steep path, with some slightly exposed sections, which immediately gives a feeling of real mountains. Once at the Bocchetta di Lierna, a final effort will take us to the summit, where the panorama opens up spectacularly: in front of us, the Grigne massif, below us Lake Como, which frames everything with its reflections.
From the summit, we will descend towards the Bocchetta di Calivazzo and then to that of Verdascia, through pastures and open views, before climbing up a second peak, that of the Zucco di Sileggio, which also dominates the lake from above Mandello.
From here, we will descend along a steep path that goes towards Mandello before diverting towards Lierna.
A complete, panoramic, and engaging loop trail, perfect for Guidders who love the less-traveled Grigne mountains, the right amount of effort, and panoramas that stay in your mind.
