Mount Serottini and the Seroti Lakes

A high-altitude excursion in the heart of the Stelvio National Park, where nature is authentic and silence is part of the landscape. It starts from Pianaccio, crosses pastures, larches and peat bogs, and begins to climb along the Val Bighera. The path is wild enough: you gain altitude on scree, steps and rocky valleys, but every step is worth the effort.

The first reward is Lake Seroti Inferiore, nestled in a suspended basin like a high mountain secret. Then comes Lake Storto, higher up, surrounded by silence and rock walls. The water here has the color of the autumn sky and the feeling is that of being in another world.

Those who still have energy climb up to Monte Serottini (2,967 m): the final ridge is steep, but the panorama repays everything — a spectacular 360° view of Valtellina and the surrounding alpine giants. The return closes a loop that passes through other less traveled lakes, the Seroti Superiori, on tracks to be sought carefully.

It is a tour for true lovers of high mountains: silence, glacial lakes, stones, wind and space. No shelters, no bars: here you breathe freedom. Ideal in summer or early autumn, when the colors light up and the clouds stay away.
