Mount Timogno, Benfit, and Vigna Vaga: A Panoramic Traverse of the Orobie Alps

One of the most scenic treks in the Seriana Valley, a high-altitude route that allows you to connect several spectacular peaks starting from Spiazzi di Gromo, a well-known starting point for excursions in the Bergamasque Orobie.

The path initially climbs through woods and pastures until reaching the Rifugio Vodala, overlooking one of the most beautiful panoramic balconies in the valley. From here, the landscape opens up to the surrounding mountains and the peaks we are going to conquer.

Continuing towards the ridge, we will reach the summit of Monte Timogno (2099 m), easily recognizable by the large summit cross. The panorama is spectacular: in front of us, the valleys and mountains of the Seriana Valley open up, while on the opposite side, the landscapes of the Val di Scalve extend.

The crossing continues along the ridge that leads to Cima Benfit, with increasingly wide views of the Orobie. From here, we will descend towards the suggestive Passo degli Omini, an area famous for the presence of edelweiss during the summer season.

Depending on the conditions of the group and the mountain, it will be possible to add the ascent to the splendid summit of Monte Vigna Vaga, one of the most panoramic peaks in the area.

The return will take place through the high-altitude pastures passing from the summit of Avert, closing a spectacular ring above the Spiazzi di Gromo.
