Guidders, this year we're celebrating New Year's Eve in the snow.

Imagine Madesimo at sunset, the sound of snowshoes, the cold air of Valle Spluga and the first evening lights starting to switch on across the mountains. Then the sky turns dark, the stars appear, and all that's left in front of us is the beam of our headlamps.

This is how our New Year's Eve in Madesimo will begin.

We'll set off from the village center for an evening snowshoe hike on the Andossi plateau, following an easy loop route of about 6 km and 180-200 meters of elevation gain. An accessible and scenic route, also designed for those who want to try snowshoeing without tackling a particularly challenging climb.

Step by step we'll leave Madesimo behind us and climb toward the Andossi, one of the great natural balconies of Valchiavenna. All around us, snow, mountains and the silence of the evening.

But this time the refuge won't just be a stop along the way.

It will be the heart of our night.

We'll reach Rifugio La Baitella, where a traditional New Year's Eve dinner awaits us, to be shared all together. Table, toasts, laughter and that wonderful feeling of being far from the city on the most special night of the year.

At the stroke of midnight we'll celebrate the new year together in the mountains.

Then, when the time comes, we'll put our snowshoes and headlamps back on and head back to Madesimo under the night sky.
