Noli's Cave of the Forgers: A Panoramic Trek on the Pilgrim's Path, Exploring Ligurian Coastline and History
Guiddy Difficulty Levels
Intermediate
Description
A trek to the Grotta dei Falsari (Cave of the Counterfeiters) is one of the most iconic experiences in the Western Liguria region. Here, Guidders will discover a route that combines incredible views, history, and trails suspended between sky and sea.
This itinerary between Noli and Varigotti follows the famous Sentiero del Pellegrino (Pilgrim's Path) and the evocative Passeggiata Dantesca (Dante's Walk), offering an accessible yet emotionally rich excursion. It is one of those treks that manage to surprise step after step, without requiring large elevation gains but offering continuous panoramic views.
During the route, we will encounter spectacular views of the Ligurian coast, where the intense blue of the sea mixes with the green of the Mediterranean scrub. The path rises gently, always keeping the view of the sea open and creating that feeling of lightness typical of sea-view treks.
The Grotta dei Falsari, also known as the Grotta dei Briganti (Cave of the Bandits), is the heart of the excursion. According to tradition, this place was used by smugglers to hide their goods, giving rise to its name. A detail that adds charm and mystery to the experience.
We will encounter a unique environment, shaped by millions of years of marine erosion, when these lands were submerged. Today, the cave opens like a natural balcony overlooking the sea, offering one of the most spectacular panoramic points in Liguria.
This trek is perfect for Guidders who want to experience a panoramic day, without giving up a touch of history and adventure.

Stefano
Hi, I'm Stefano, and I've always had a deep connection with the mountains. From a young age, I found freedom, discovery, and a connection with nature on the trails, in the woods, and on the summits. Over time, this passion has grown into something more: a desire to share it with others. I believe that a hike is a unique experience, a journey to discover yourself and the world around you. Today, I guide people of all ages and experience levels as they explore mountain landscapes. I share not only technical knowledge and safety tips, but also respect for the environment and the pleasure of moving at a slow pace, in harmony with nature. I believe that hiking in the mountains is more than just physical activity; it's an experience that can deeply enrich those who live it, helping them rediscover their inner rhythm and see the world with fresh eyes.
