Pian di Cengia Hut: the 3 huts loop in Val Fiscalina
Guiddy Difficulty Levels
Difficult Plus
Description
Three huts, a scree slope beneath the Paterno's walls, and the roof of Val Fiscalina all to ourselves.
We set off with the Guidders from Val Fiscalina in the cool morning air: that's how you tackle summer up here, early start, plenty of water, altitude bringing the relief. It's a loop climbing gently through woods and meadows to the Zsigmondy-Comici Hut, then steepens toward the big scree slope below Monte Paterno: its walls on the right, the Piani lakes on the left, a stretch you walk with your eyes wide open. We cross the saddle and reach the Pian di Cengia Hut, the highest and smallest in the Tre Cime park, perched on an airy rock ledge. From there it's a long, gentle descent back down.
The Comici hut was rebuilt by CAI Padova after WWI, dedicated to two climbing legends: Emilio Comici and Emil Zsigmondy.

Alessandro
⛰ Hi there! I’m Alessandro. I’m 34 years old and live in the heart of the Dolomites, in the Cadore region. I am a certified International Mountain Leader (accredited by the Veneto Mountain Guide Association and UIMLA), a graduate in Sports Science, a mountain bike guide, and—believe it or not—a sommelier! After all, there’s nothing like a good glass of wine after a long hike. I love experiencing the mountains in every way possible: from trekking and trail running to mountain bike adventures. For me, moving through nature is pure energy, discovery, and emotion. Sharing this passion with others is my mission. Whether we are on a scenic trail or riding through the woods on two wheels, my goal is always the same: to provide authentic, active, and restorative experiences. See you on the trails… or maybe over a great glass of wine! 🍷🚵♂️🌲
