Pietra Quadra Lake at Snowmelt: A Hidden Gem in the Orobie Alps
Guiddy Difficulty Levels
Intermediate
Description
An excursion that tastes of true spring: melting snow, streams flowing again, and views reopening onto the Brembana Valley. Together with the Guidders, we will depart from the Baite di Mezzeno to reach Lake Pietra Quadra, when the thaw transforms it into a living spectacle, amidst water, ice, and mountain silence.
During the spring, this route is particularly charming: small streams cross the path, waterfalls form along the slopes, and the residual snow creates spectacular contrasts with the returning green.
We will take a circular route passing by the beautiful "Tre Pizzi" bivouac with its small lakes, until we reach our destination nestled among the mountains: an incredible mix of open water and ice sheets, with an open view of the surrounding peaks.
A perfect excursion for those who want to experience the mountains in their moment of transformation.
