Pizzo Rabbi and Bivacco Petazzi: A Wild Trekking Adventure through the Upper Lario, from Lake Ledù to Bocchetta del Cannone

Pizzo Rabbi is one of the wildest and most panoramic peaks of the Alto Lario, on the border between the mountains that separate the Val Garzelli and the Valle del Dosso. A long and demanding hike, perfect for those seeking an authentic and uncrowded alpine route.

The ascent begins from Pra' Pincé, climbing up the splendid Val Garzelli to the hidden gem of Alpe Campo, a place suspended in time surrounded by pastures and profound silence.

The trail crosses a picturesque spruce forest of white firs, a cool and almost mysterious environment, where short bursts alternate with more gentle and panoramic stretches. From here, head towards the Dosso Aveert, gradually entering a more alpine and austere environment.

The ascent to the Bocchetta del Cannone represents the most challenging section: a steep gully of scree where attention must remain high, between unstable stones and sustained slope. But when you reach the pass, the panorama repays every effort.

From here the route becomes even more spectacular: you pass the magnificent Lago Ledù and the characteristic Bivacco Petazzia at 2,245 meters, set in an alpine environment of rare beauty.

Back at the Bocchetta del Cannone, you quickly reach the summit of Pizzo Rabbi, an extraordinary natural balcony overlooking the mountains of Alto Lario, the western Orobie and the Valtellina.
