Guiddy Difficulty Levels
Intermediate Plus
Description
A trek in the Orobic Alps of Valtellina that brings together water, altitude, and borderland history. With Guidders, you set off from Fusine in Val Tartano and follow a mountain trail that climbs steadily through pastures, scree slopes, and high-valley terrain to the Porcile Lakes, before continuing on to Rifugio Dordona in the province of Sondrio, Lombardy. The views open out between Val Tartano and Val Madre, with glimpses of alpine peaks and glacial basins. The route follows a hiking trail throughout, with sustained gradients, uneven ground, and demanding uphill sections: a good level of fitness and sure-footedness are required; details are approximate. 5 reasons to choose this trip - True alpine lakes, set like gems in the Orobic Alps - A crossing between two valleys, each with its own distinct character - Rifugio Dordona as a welcoming and rewarding destination - A satisfying trail for those who love high-mountain terrain without via ferratas - A shared Guiddy experience that feels simple, genuine, and authentic What makes this hike special is that in just one day it offers lakes, valley landscapes, a mountain hut, and sweeping views, along a route that changes character step by step and leaves you with that wonderful feeling of having truly earned every panorama.
